12006378_457015981148583_1478374797266798746_nThere is just one way to get rid from all the misery and in the opinion of Ahmad Ashfaque Karim, it is undoubtedly quality education to all. With the decision of government to open up five private universities all over the state including Al Karim University in Katihar, lakhs of students are likely to avail a bouquet of opportunities that will definitely change their life forever.

These universities will offer a number of mainstream courses along with several long & short term vocational courses that would prepare them for the competitive professional world. It’s an era of transition. Modern education not only talks about theory and philosophies. It has inclined itself more towards developing skills, methods & routes that drive the students to their specific goals.
Let’s take an instance of Medical Science. Initially it only revolves around the traditional MBBS & likewise degrees but the advent of vocational courses like Bachelors in Biotechnology, Bioengineering B.A in Healthcare Management, BBA in Healthcare Administration, BSN etc. has been opened a new gateway to the students.

Besides these, short term vocational courses that are set to be run in these universities like Blood Collection Assistant, ECG Operator, X-ray Operator, Health Worker, Physiotherapy Technician, Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery, Opthalmic Techniques, Healthcare Sciences, Medical Diagnostics etc. could generate countless employment opportunities to the youth. Once doing these courses, one can soon start working in pathology labs, healthcare centers, hospitals etc. or start something of his/her own.

One among these five universities has also plans to run a vocational course that gives degree in art & writing. This is simply a fabulous idea.

Soon these universities will start functioning & lakhs of our talented students could get a career of their dream that once they were deprived of.

Al Karim University Katihar to be opened in Bihar

Out of the five private universities to be opened in Bihar, one namely Al Karim University Katihar . The Education Department has already given approval to the Amity University that will be open at Bihta, Patna. A total of nine proposals have sent to the Education Department. Five made their names in the final list, two were discarded and the decision on two is kept on hold.

For educationist Ashfaque Karim, this is an overwhelming decision.  kosi-Seemanchal is one among the most backward regions of Bihar. Higher education is far from the reach of the masses. Establishment of a university in this region would open doors to opportunities for the youth here.

There was a time when no university had a mark in the region. Ashfaque Karim toiled hard to set up the first private medical college that is Katihar Medical College in Katihar district of Kosi belt. Now with the decision of state government to form five new private universities will change the lives of the people.

These private universities will run medical, engineering & a bunch of vocational/professional courses.  Thousands and lakhs of students are expected to be enrolled in these universities. The jurisdiction of Al Karim University Katihar is all over Bihar. The university can establish the educational institution any where in Bihar.

Increasing water levels in Kosi, Gandak & Bagmati rivers in Bihar

Even after several years of the catastrophe in 2008, the residents in Kosi could not have forgotten that horrified day when their lives shattered in just one moment. It has taken years to people to recollect themselves & start afresh. Once again people are terrified with that same fear of flood which had ruined their lives.

Increasing water levels in Kosi, Gandak & Bagmati rivers has threatened the population. Many districts of Kosi region have been flooded including Araria, Purnea, Katihar, Saharsa & Khagaria as well. The rivers are flowing above danger levels at several points & the embankments are also not safe.

Ahmad Ashfaque Karim, the Vice President of Lok Janshakti Party has called the society to come forward and contribute in the rescue of Kosi masses. Govermnet machinery is doing their job but it is the time to do something for humanity. Kosi masses are crying for help. They have limited resources. A large number of people have started fleeing from the place in panic as they are not assured of their well being. It is our responsibility to help the people in calamity. Our little help can make a big difference.

Kosi seeks Agro-Industries

Accept it or not, Kosi has been facing ignorance from the State Government. Despite of the fact that Kosi districts are large scale producers of agro-products like maize, jute, banana, pine apple as well tea, no attempts have been made to establish any agro-based industry.

The Vice President of Lok Janshakti Party, Ahmad Ashfaque Karim blamed the government for its step-motherly treatment to Kosi in comparision to the other districts of Bihar. We all know that the development of the agro-industries could help to stabilize and make agriculture more lucrative. These industries have potential to create large scale employment opportunities, both at the production and marketing level. The broad-based development of the agro-products industry will improve both the social and physical infrastructure of the region. Since, it would cause diversification and commercialization of agriculture; it will thus enhance the incomes of farmers and create food surpluses.

It is well recognized fact that the industrially developed areas have lower migration rates. Kosi has been facing the unsolved problem of higher migration rates that is all because of lack of industries for labors to work.

Here, the founder of Katihar Medical College, Karim Sahab stressed on the fact that ‘food’ is not just produce. Food also encompasses a wide variety of processed products. It is in this sense that the agro-industry is an important and vital part of the manufacturing sector and if properly exploited, the means for building industrial capacities. It is the crying demand of Kosi to set up not many but a few agro-industries that might change the fortune of its masses.

Step-motherly treatment by Government to Kosi

Educationist Ashfaque Ahmad Karim has a few issues to be addressed by the Nitish Kumar led State Government. The Chief Minister of Bihar has been demanding the Special State Status for Bihar. He has accused centre for being ignorant and insensitive towards the hardships faced by Bihari people. Irony is, our CM has been giving step-motherly treatment to the backward Kosi region and its districts.

The chairman & Managing Director of Katihar Medical College raised his voice for the “Special Status” demand for Kosi area. Since, Kosi has been adversely affected by the frequent floods; it is the responsibility of government to provide more of facilities in order to match the other developing cities. Purnea should be developed as its hub, where special sessions of Assembly should be held.

It would be interesting to watch that whether the so called Sushasan Babu will address this genuine issue or not. Giving a political color to any problem could be easy for any politician but handling it tactfully marks all difference. With the much-awaited Assembly Elections next door, Kosi issues are going to play crucial role in deciding the political future of state.  Let’s hope for the best.

Education should be given to All Student

Education is the changing agent, the catalyst that has the power to transforms the lives of poverty ridden backward society. Ahmad Ashfaque Karim firmly belief the same and therefore he left no stone unturned to establish the first minority medical college in the backward Katihar district of Kosi region.

However, this is mere a drop in the ocean. Kosi seeks a number of such institutions in its land. Karim Sahab has been demanding for a University at Katihar where a range of subjects could be taught. To raise the percentage of students in higher education, he has emphasized the opening of a branch of Aligarh Muslim University at Kishanganj and Araria districts.

It is an established fact that education opens door of opportunities to all irrespective of their caste, creed or gender. Coming to the ground reality, Kosi has the maximum of minority population that continue to lag way behind their compatriots in the field of education. Irony is the roars of State Government claiming for development throughout the state. If they have done development to all, then, why Kosi is still deprived of their basic right of education? Does Nitish Government have any answer to it? Probably not! Even after ten years of their government, no national level university has been inaugurated in the region. Kosi masses are urging for a genuine leader whose constant efforts could rid them of their plight.

When you have a great aim to serve the society, no odd has the strength to hinder your path. Forces have to settle down, giving you way and you come out as a champion with blessings of all. This truly defines Ahmad Ashfaque Karim, the founder father of state first minority medical college, Katihar Medical College.

His life has set an example to those who have never losing attitude. The commitment and dedication he has shown to establish KMC is incredible. A simple rural middle class boy who was average in his studies has come a long way. Earlier he had a mission, to do something for the backward minority youths. Now he holds a responsibility to do every possible thing for the development of the people of Kosi region on the whole.

Kosi comes among the most backward areas of Bihar. It has mere a literacy rate of approximately 35 % with a great bunch of illiterates. There were industries once but now they are a matter of past. Kosi is crying for quality education at primary and higher levels, it needs industries to put a stop on migration in search of employment, it is urging for development. Ashfaque Karim has always a soft corner for the deprived masses of the region and therefore, he has been involved in the developmental activities for the region.

Being victim of the devastating yearly flood, Kosi masses are vulnerable to epidemic diseases or plague. In account of this, Karim organizes regular health camps in the region.

Kosi is looking at him with hope. They might have got their leader who has opted politics not for his vested interest rather for their upliftment.

First Minority Medical College in Katihar(Bihar) by Ahmad Ashfaque Karim

What one can expect from a 29 years old young mind; he might be through with his studies, has secured a decent job, earn good sums of money and may or may not support his family. But these calculations are for an ordinary man, not for a great personality who has a mission to accomplish. Ahmad Ashfaque Karim has established Katihar Medical College & Hospital in an age of 29 when most of the youths remain busy with enjoying their college and social lives. And all this was for the sake of humanity.

Ahmad Ashfaque Karim has set up the first minority medical college of Bihar in one of the most backward Katihar district of Kosi region. The college is now one of the pioneer institutions in the field of medical education. It serves thousands of people every day and is equipped with every possible modern medical equipments and advance technology.

It was the year of 1987 when young Ashfaque has created history and moved to Supreme Court in against of non-issuance of NOC by Bihar Government. The highest court passed a historic judgment that lay down that NOC would be issued after a stipulated period to any minority institution which has applied for affiliation.

More than that, Asfaque karim doesn’t hail from Katihar, neither he has any relation to the district.  But he has a relation to every human that is in need. The society is fortunate to have Karim Sahab. He has earned blessings of those several thousands, lakhs of people who have been availing quality health services for no cost.

Education in Kosi

Ahmad Ashfaq Karim is not a hardcore politician neither he wishes to be. The educationist has embraced this role to make a difference in the lives of people, especially of Kosi region. Politics, these days has became a matter of profit, power and pity practices. Karim has been struggled hard to change this notion.
“I have witnessed extreme poverty. Children are forced into child labor; they have no idea what a school looks alike or what the kids do with the bags they carry on their shoulders. They simply know one thing – If I won’t work, my family could die because of hunger.” This is poverty, ruthless and merciless. It was just one example cited by Ashfaq Karim. Kosi is flooded with such cases. Kishanganj, Araria, Madhepura, Supaul, Purnea, Saharsa – all these districts has same tale to say. Poverty, poor conditions of education and health, lack of infrastructure are the true identity of these districts.
Karim has been made numerous efforts to change the scenario but ignorance and absence of required support from government is a major obstacle in his path. So little has been done for the development and they even justifies it in account of the natural calamities like floods. However, this doesn’t mean that Kosi would never witness the shining rays of development. We are optimistic people with a strong will to make a change and when there is a will, there is surely a way, if not we’ll carve a path with our commitment, labor and dedication.
